I've been chatting to a lovely gentleman and he asked me what my top 5 favourite songs are.
I've added links to the YouTube videos in the titles in case anyone wants to check them out. So here it goes.............(These four are in no particular order!)
Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah
There's been a LOT of different versions of this song but Jeff Buckley does it like no one else! There's a tender beauty to his voice it get me every time I hear it.....reduces me to tears!
RIP Jeff, a great talent taken far to early.
Johnny Cash - Hurt
I've always had a soft spot for Mr Cash :) A lot people think he wrote the song himself but It's actually a cover of Nine Inch Nails. As much as I love the atmospheric NIN original, Mr Cash adds something almost magical to it. It's another one that leaves me a sobbing mess.
Tom Vek - (C-C) You set the fire in me
I have no idea why I like this song so much! It's not really about anything its just a random song with no special quality's but I could happily listen to it on repeat all day everyday :)
Janes Addiction - Jane Says
An amazing song from an amazing band. I have to say the live version sends shivers down my spine! I would give anything to have been at the Hammerstein Ballroom to see that gig. In my humble opinion Perry Farrell has one of the best voices I've ever heard......and Dave Navarro looks damn hot in a skirt :)
Now for the last one :) This is my all time fave! When I'm old and grey this will still be my No 1 tune!
Timber - Coldcut and Hexstatic
Highlighting the destruction of the rain forest and the damage it does to the indigenous people and wildlife. Using nothing but the industrial sounds of a tree being felled and the haunting singing of a tribal woman. A true masterpiece was created. Almost 20 years old and it still sounds amazing!
Well that was my top 5 fave songs. Why don't you leave me yours in the comments box below and I'll check them out ;)
